Epilogue: Where the World Stands Still
The apartment door closed behind them with a soft click, a muted sound that sealed off the outside world and left behind the noise of Bangkok, the manager’s missed calls, production schedules, and the months of forced silence.
The moment the lock fell into place, Smart let his small suitcase drop to the floor.
He barely had time to take another step before Boom closed the distance between them, wrapping his arms around Smart’s neck with desperate urgency, as if he feared that with a single blink, Smart might disappear again.
Smart caught him around the waist, lifting him slightly off the floor as he pulled him firmly against his chest. The air left them in a shared sigh when their lips finally met.
It wasn't a measured or hesitant kiss. It was the result of waiting, of late nights staring at a cold screen, of letters kept hidden away, and of the chords of a song that had crossed borders. Every brush of their lips spoke of how much they had missed each other, of their desperate need to make sure the other was still real, warm, and flesh and blood.
“You’re here...” Boom whispered against his lips, his voice breaking with a muffled sob of pure happiness as he buried his fingers in Smart’s tousled hair. “You’re really here.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” Smart replied hoarsely, cupping Boom’s face with both hands, memorizing every feature, every line around his eyes, before kissing him again with infinite devotion.
The initial urgency slowly transformed into a tide of slow, deep caresses filled with overwhelming tenderness. They moved toward the bedroom without breaking contact.
Shedding their jackets and shirts felt like shedding the weight of the months they had spent apart. Between rumpled sheets and the soft light of night beginning to filter through the window, every touch was a reunion.
Smart traced his fingertips over Boom’s skin as if rediscovering a sacred map, pausing at every sigh, every tremor he awakened in his body. For Boom, having Smart back, feeling the warmth of his skin without a screen between them, was like breathing again after an eternity beneath the water.
They gave themselves to each other without reservation, their heartbeats merging into a steady, perfect rhythm where there were no longer any fears, no industry expectations, no concern over what anyone might say. There were only the two of them, burning away the silence with long kisses and embraces that promised they would stay together forever.
Hours later, the room was completely still.
The moon rose over the Bangkok sky, bathing the bed in silver light.
Boom lay against Smart’s chest, listening to the slow, steady rhythm of his heartbeat as he traced invisible circles over his skin with his fingertips. Smart had one arm wrapped around his back, holding him close, while his other hand absentmindedly played with strands of Boom’s hair.
Smart’s phone, abandoned on the bedside table, vibrated silently with a notification from the production company. They both glanced at it, but neither made a move to reach for it.
“What are you going to do about your manager tomorrow?” Boom asked with a small, mischievous smile, lifting his gaze to meet Smart’s eyes. “They’re going to kill you when they find out you ran away from set for seventy-two hours.”
Smart smiled to one side, leaning down to press a tender kiss to Boom’s forehead.
“Tell them to book me a flight back a week from now,” Smart replied with absolute calm, pulling him a little closer against his body. “I’ll tell them I had a medical emergency. A reality overdose.”
Boom let out a soft laugh, a musical sound that disappeared into the dimness of the room.
“You’re crazy.”
“Crazy about you, maybe,” Smart admitted without embarrassment, looking at him with a devotion that left him defenseless. “But for the first time in a very long time, I feel like I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.”
Boom sighed, closing his eyes as he finally allowed the peace to completely surround him. He settled more comfortably against Smart’s chest, breathing in his familiar scent.
Outside those four walls, the world would keep turning with all its demands and cameras. But in there, curled up together in the shadows, the melody of their own story had finally found its perfect rhythm.
There were no more distances to fear or silences to decipher; only the dawn that would slowly arrive, finding them together, exactly as they were always meant to be.
The End
