Chapter 13: The Light in the Rhythm

"Some songs don't ask you to sink into the past; they invite you to stand up, take a deep breath, and remember that the sun always rises again."

The apartment was bathed in a dim shadow.
From the high window, the skyline of the foreign city glowed beneath the night sky.
On the other side of the street, the lights of the production buildings—where Smart was filming his new series—were beginning to turn off one by one.

Smart remained standing in the middle of the living room.
His finger hovered just millimeters above the phone screen.
For months, he had grown accustomed to the quiet, sober calm with which he tried to handle the distance.
He had assumed that everything tied to his story with Boom would carry a heavy tone of nostalgia. However, the fragments of conversation he had overheard among the Thai crew members on the set refused to leave his mind: Boom released a new song.
Smart stared at his phone screen.
The title shone brightly on the music app: Everywhere With You.
He took a deep breath and pressed play.
The first sound that filled the apartment was not a melancholy piano or a sad chord, but a bright synth sequence, a light drum beat, and a warm, upbeat pop rhythm.
Smart froze in place, caught completely off guard.
The melody was fresh, dynamic, and full of light.
And when Boom’s voice came in, it didn't sound faint or hurt; on the contrary, it sounded bright, serene, and so effortless that it instantly delivered a sense of comfort.
How much time has passed? A long time went by and I never knew... But I'm still here waiting, watching...
Everything I've ever dreamed of, I found with you.
The playful beat of the track made it impossible not to get swept away.
Smart felt a sudden swell in his chest—not of sadness, but of a reassuring warmth he hadn't experienced in a very long time.
Are you tired? So many things have happened...
Just tell yourself that it's okay. No matter how hard last night was... let me hold you tight.
The lyrics were a pure sanctuary, but the music gave them a surge of hope.
It wasn't a reproach for their separation, nor a lament over past silences.
It was a direct message to his heart, wrapped in a rhythmic melody that said: "I know it's been hard and you're tired of carrying everything alone, but it's okay. I'm right here."
Smart walked slowly toward the balcony, following the constant pulse of the song.
Even if right now everything hurts... Let it end, it's okay, I'll wait for you.
I'll always be by your side. Tomorrow everything will get better because I love you...
Forever is right now, everywhere with you.

A soft, disarmed smile formed on Smart's face.
He rested his hands on the railing and looked out at the city lights.
For the first time in months, the heavy tightness in his chest completely vanished. He realized how wrong he had been to think that protecting Boom meant hiding away, keeping quiet about his struggles, and suffering in isolation.
Boom didn't want perfect explanations or for Smart to fix the world by himself.
Boom simply wanted to be there, supporting each other and finding shelter together.
When the song reached the bridge in English, the musical energy lifted even higher—rhythmic and liberating:
If you fall, catch you now, you don't have to figure it out! Say it loud, say it's true, you're not alone, trust me!
Smart closed his eyes and let the refreshing rhythm wash over him.
Doubts and fear were gone. Boom’s song was not a goodbye; it was the open door he had been waiting for.
The track ended on a bright chord. Silence returned to the apartment, but this time it felt vibrant and alive.
Smart opened the Notes app on his phone.
He reread the line he had written months ago back in Bangkok: “Some memories learn to travel with you.”
Beneath it, with a steady clarity he hadn't felt in years, he typed:
“And some songs remind you that it’s time to go home.
I don’t have to figure it all out alone anymore. Wait for me.”
He locked the screen, pulled out a small carry-on bag, and began packing the essentials.
He couldn't wait any longer.
With hands trembling slightly from adrenaline, he dialed his manager’s number.
He knew it was crazy to call at this hour in the middle of filming a series he was starring in, but the urgency in his chest left him no choice.
"Smart? Is something wrong? It's really late..." his manager answered on the other end.
"I need to fly to Bangkok.
Urgently," Smart said, zipping up his bag.
"Please talk to the director first thing in the morning.
Ask them to adjust the shooting schedule and film the scenes with the rest of the cast for the next three days. I'll be back in 72 hours and work double shifts if necessary to make up for the time, but I have to leave right now."
"Wait, Smart! It doesn't work like that," his manager exclaimed. "We're in the middle of filming. Tomorrow morning I have to talk to production, review the schedule with the director, and see if they even authorize holding your scenes... Nothing is confirmed yet."
"Please do what you can. I have to catch the next flight."

Before his manager could give a response or an official confirmation from the company, Smart hung up. There was no approved leave yet.
Nor did he know if production would be upset or if they could rearrange filming in time.
But in that moment, nothing mattered more than boarding a plane.
Smart grabbed his jacket, keys, and passport.
He walked out to the street with a firm step and requested a taxi to the airport.
As the vehicle drove away under the night sky, he put on his headphones and replayed Everywhere With You.
With the catchy rhythm echoing in his mind and his heart beating to the tempo of the music, Smart knew that risking everything was worth it for the one person who made any place in the world feel like home.

End of Chapter Thirteen.
